Aruna Chandra, artistic director of "Prerna Academy of Performing Arts", teaches dance in Kuchipudi style and South Indian Carnatic music in Rolling Meadows, IL and Schaumburg, IL. Aruna learnt Kuchipudi for 13 years (from age 3 - 16) from gurus Sri. Govindarajulu and Sri. UmaShankar, at Kurnool, India, and gave many performances as a youngster and teenager. Aruna has further honed her skills under the tutelage of "Natya Kala Ratna" Sri Pasumarthy Venkateswara Sarma and Smt. Sobha Tammana. Aruna has been teaching dance and music for the past 10 years and takes great pleasure in passing this wonderful tradition to younger generations.
